People are almost literally tied to their phones these days. While that’s often a bad thing, there’s a reason for it. Modern smartphones provide so much utility to people. In addition to being able to instantly contact anyone you need to, there’s a huge number of apps that will allow you to track your health, manage your money or entertain yourself. Today’s smartphones are better than ever before thanks to vast technological advancements in recent years. In some cases, it doesn’t even matter which brand of smartphone you’re choosing. Their competition with each other has forced them to keep pressing forward to make better phones than ever before. If you're in the market for a new phone, these are the latest and greatest available to you.
1 – iPhone 12 Pro
The iPhone 12 Pro is the latest and greatest from Apple. It’s the best Apple smartphone you can buy today. As is customary with Apple, the iPhone 12 Pro, its flagship release for this year, has a sleek design that conjures up memories of the iPhone 4. However, the iPhone 12 Pro packs premium 12 megapixel rear and front-facing cameras, a glass and stainless steel design and beautiful 6.1-inch OLED screen. The phone also includes 5G wireless speeds and Ceramic Shield for protecting the display from drops. There is even a new wireless charging option known as MagSafe, which allows you to place a magnetized wireless charger onto the back of your iPhone. However, if you prefer the old-fashioned way of charging, you will have to use an old Lightning charging cable or buy a new one separately as it’s not included with the new generation of iPhones.
2 – Samsung Galaxy S20
Android fans should be pleased with the latest offerings from Samsung, the Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus. The Infinity-O AMOLED screen measures 6.2 and 6.7 inches, respectively and there are storage choices of 128GB and 512GB. You can further expand on that with an SD card up to 1TB. It runs on the Android 10 operating system and has great rear- and front-facing cameras. Things are smooth-running thanks to the 12GB of RAM and 5GB wireless data speeds and you can charge wirelessly as well.
3 – iPhone 11
Although the iPhone 12 lineup is about to drop to the market any day now, the iPhone 11 is the best iPhone available for most users. It is the cheapest option of the iPhone 11 lineup but packs all of the best features of its pricier counterpart, the iPhone 11 Pro, into its colorful body. The LCD screen is 6.1 inches and is reminiscent of that of 2018’s iPhone XR. However, it boasts a larger battery that provides the user with all-day usage on a single charge. The rear camera is 12 megapixels and is exceptional even in low-light situations. Storage options include 64GB, 128GB and 256GB.
4 – Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra
The latest Note option from Samsung, the 20 Ultra, has a gorgeous 6.9-inch AMOLED display, excellent battery life and 12GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly. You also get three storage options from which to choose: 128GB, 256GB and 512GB as well as 12 megapixel front and 108 megapixel rear cameras that snap sharp photos. The included S Pen has gotten some upgrades, one of which being faster response time. If you like using your smartphone for work or gaming, this is one of the best.
5 – OnePlus 8 Pro
If you are looking for the best flagship Android smartphone with an affordable price tag, look no further than the OnePlus 8 Pro. It’s available with internal storage options of 128GB and 256GB and 8GB or 12GB of RAM and has a stunning 6.78-inch OLED display. The cameras are 48 megapixels and 16 megapixels, respectively, and battery life is good at over 11 hours on a single charge. The screen’s fast 120 Hz refresh rate makes for a smooth viewing experience that rivals even that of the flagship offerings from Samsung.
6 – iPhone SE 2020
If you are an Apple enthusiast but prefer the smaller form factor, you can’t go wrong with the iPhone SE 2020 version. It takes on the familiar form factor of all iPhones from the iPhone 6 through the iPhone 8 with a 4.7-inch LCD screen. It’s highly affordable at only $399 for the 64GB version with 3GB of RAM and a 12 megapixel rear camera and 7 megapixel front-facing shooter. The innards of the iPhone SE are the same as those included in the higher range iPhone 11 series, which make it a speedy, responsive device that can satisfy any user.
7 – Samsung Galaxy Note 20
For a few dollars less than the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, you can snag the Galaxy Note 20. The screen is barely smaller than its counterpart at 6.7 inches, but you only get a 128GB storage option with 8GB of RAM. However, compared with the Ultra, battery life is subpar as you get under 10 hours. Regardless, you can still get the perks of the S Pen with a smaller price tag. The rear camera, while it doesn’t have all the same bells and whistles such as high-powered optical zoom, is still excellent. At $880, you get a lot of phone for less money.
